Pechanga Powwow 2012 (2 of 2)

Pechanga Powwow native american regalia temecula tribe tribal indigenous first nation

Canon 5D Mark III, 70-200mm f/4 IS USM at 200mm, f/16 for 1/50 at ISO 100

The second powwow shot featuring the male performer was done with the lens racked out to 200mm to get as tight of a composition as possible. An aperture of f/16 was used to get a slow enough shutter speed to convey motion. It took numerous frames to get the right combination of sharpness in the performer’s face, the sense of motion of his body and colorful regalia. The 6 fps of the 5D Mark III certainly came in handy in making this shot.

  1. The power of the colour and clarity of the shot, combined with the motion blur make this an outstanding photo. An excellent companion shot to the more reflective 1 of 2.

The only thing that I find disappointing if how little attention your work is receiving here. I view a many photos online, for sheer enjoyment, saving a few here and there to share on my Webfinds blog, with direct links back to the originator of the work, so that they receive full credit and sales if that is their thing. Your work stands out as much better than most I see, it really does deserve a chance to be appreciated, so I am going to reblog this one and with your permission another photo in a week? It might be not be much, but it is all that is in my power to do.
