San Diego is very scenic with numerous bays and beaches that make great subjects for photography. The above photo was shot shortly before sunset and the camera was pointed southeast with the boats in the San Diego Bay as the foreground serving as a leading line to downtown San Diego in the background. It is a bit of a challenge making long exposure photographs even in the relative calm waters of a bay. You want the light to be just right to avoid the harshness of direct sun, but at the same time want to maintain a high enough shutter speed to avoid blur from the undulating boats in the water. In this case, I found that 1/5s worked out well where the boats are sharp and the exposure is pleasing given the light levels and aperture.
